Welcome to the Erasmus Programme of the Joseph Haydn Conservatory!

For student and guest lecturer accommodation the JHC recommends the Haydn Conservatory Guest House (Haydnkons Gästehaus), which is a part of the “Haus der Begegnung”.

A further option near the University of Applied Sciences and the Pedagogical College is the Austrian Young Workers Movement House (ÖJAB-Haus).

IMPORTANT: Information about current requirements for visa and residence permits for students from EU countries and third countries as well as about health insurance can be found on the website of the Austrian Academic Exchange Service (Österreichischen Austauschdienstes).

In some cases, the Joseph Haydn Conservatory also organises its own courses in German for speakers of other languages.

Location and arrival

The provincial capital of Eisenstadt can be reached every day on an hourly basis by public transport (train or bus) from the national capital of Vienna as well as from the west Hungarian city of Sopron/Ödenburg. The current schedules can be found on the homepages of the Integrated Public Transport System for the Eastern Region of Austria Verkehrsverbundes Ostregion VOR and the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).

There is no direct connection to Eisenstadt from the airport Wien-Schwechat; the shortest route is via Vienna.

In Eisenstadt there are a public transport system, a city taxi system and minibuses. Information is available on the website of the Eisenstadt city bus: www.stadtbuseisenstadt.at.

The Joseph Haydn Conservatory is located in the heart of the city, only a few minutes’ walk from the centrally located Esterhazy Palace. The approach is clearly signposted.

Further information (e.g. history, city map, hotels and bed and breakfasts) can be found on the websites of the City of Eisenstadt (Stadt Eisenstadt) and the Province of Burgenland (Landes Burgenland).
